High Needs Top Up Funding Moderations Sessions 18/19
Annual Moderation of High Needs funding for Mainstream Schools for children/YP without an EHCP. The moderation will sample 10% of all HN funded pupils and give schools an opportunity to put forward applications for consideration where a change in band is requested. At moderation schools will work in small groups to peer moderate each others applications.

Child Protection for the Designated Lead Role for the Childminder
This course is for Childminders who have the lead/designated role for child protection. Childminders need to have completed the Introduction to Child Protection course within the last 3 years. It is recommended that at least 6 months have lapsed after the introduction course; this is to enable Childminders to embed practice.
Safer recruitment
Statutory Guidance continues to require a minimum of one member of any recruitment panel to have undertaken safer recruitment training.

Using the DfE authorised materials from the Lucy Faithfull Foundation, and delivered by accredited trainers, this programme explores the background and context of safer recruitment, defines a safe recruitment process and considers a strategy for maintaining a culture of safeguarding in organisations.

Participants must complete the whole day’s programme and all the included exercises and topic assessments to be awarded certification.
Advice to Schools that use wire gauzes that may contain asbestos
The HSE has been made aware that two suppliers of scientific equipment to schools have been supplying mesh gauzes containing asbestos-containing centres. These gauzes are used with tripods and Bunsen Burners and the article and related link provides guidance on what to do if you have been supplied with these gauzes for your science lessons.
